“Welcome to my home,” the man said. “My name is Asmian.”

“I am Laurenzo.”

“Welcome, Laurenzo from Babina,” said Asmian. He took the young man by the arm and led him into his home.

It was very beautiful, with tiled floors, couches with silk cushions and pots with strange plants in them. Asmian clapped his hands and immediately servants appeared, who took Laurenzo with them, ran a bath for him, gave him a new robe to wear and finally placed a delicious meal before him. Then they led him to a room where a soft bed was waiting, and they left.

Laurenzo did not feel at all like sleeping, but he was glad to be alone. He lay down on the bed and sighed for Jiacomo, but he was more tired than he thought and was asleep before he knew it.
